examsharp ("we", "us", "our") is a free GCSE revision platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We take your privacy seriously, especially as many of our users are under 18.

1. Who we are

examsharp is operated as a personal project and is free to use. Our website is examsharp.com. You can contact us at hello@examsharp.com.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Email address — when you create an account, so you can log back in.
• Usage data — which features you use, stored locally in your browser (not on our servers).
• Revision content — essays, answers and notes you submit are sent to our AI provider to generate feedback, then discarded. We do not store them.

We do not collect your name, age, school, or payment information.

3. How we use your data

• Your email is used only to authenticate you and let you log in.
• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not use your data for advertising.
• We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.

4. Third parties

We use a small number of trusted services to run examsharp:

• Supabase — stores your email address and account data securely. Based in the EU/US. Privacy policy.
• Anthropic — processes the text you submit (essays, answers, notes) to generate AI feedback. Content is not retained. Privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosts the website. Collects standard server logs (IP addresses, request times). Privacy policy.

5. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (to keep you logged in). We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.

6. Data storage and security

Your account data is stored securely by Supabase using industry-standard encryption. Your revision history (lab sessions, activity streak) is stored only in your browser's local storage — it never leaves your device.

7. Users under 18

Many of our users are under 18. We deliberately collect as little data as possible for this reason. We do not collect names, ages, or any sensitive personal information beyond an email address. If you are under 13, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware you are using this service.

8. Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Correct any inaccurate data
• Object to how we process your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@examsharp.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Deleting your account

To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@examsharp.comwith the subject line "Delete my account". We will permanently remove your data within 7 days.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of examsharp after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
